OUR STORY
Aktuell Grafisk Information (AGI) was founded in Copenhagen in 1969. Typographer Mogens Staffe at Berlingske Tidende saw the need for a magazine that described the technological developments that were beginning to emerge. Over the next 30 years, an entire industry would move from lead type and ink to becoming part of the information industry, where originals were created on computers and printing was in color.
In 1971, the publishing company launched a sister magazine in Sweden, under the leadership of Eric Saxell. Every month, the magazine was sent free of charge, funded by advertising, to the roughly 20,000 companies in the industry on each side of Öresund.
In 1994, Peter Ollén took over as CEO of both the Danish and Swedish companies and also launched magazines in Norway and Finland. At the same time, the publishing house began hosting seminars, which over the years developed into the Sign&Print fairs that are now held every other year in each of the four countries. The magazine also changed its name to Sign&Print and began covering the sign industry as well.
Already in the late 1990s, the publisher started sending digital newsletters, also funded by advertising. Over the years, the graphic newsletters were supplemented with professional 3D production, Cap&Design, Livsmedelsnyheter, and Packnews—the latter published both in print and digitally.
Today, AGI delivers over 150,000 news-packed emails every week to professionals across the Nordic region.
The publishing house is now based in Malmö, but continues to manage newsletters in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, while the Finnish editors run Print & Media in Finland independently, though in close collaboration with the others.
In 2022, Peter Ollén entered the Swedish Parliament and is therefore no longer active in the company, other than as a co-owner. Day-to-day operations are managed by Daniel Wahlgren.
